Why Every Franchisee Needs to Become a Local Creator

Franchisees have a national brand behind them. The ones who win locally will learn to tell their own story like creators.

Franchisees have an advantage most local businesses don't: they have a larger brand behind them.

The franchisor provides the brand, national campaigns, professional creative, and often a steady stream of content. But there is one story the franchisor can't tell nearly as well:

Your local story.

As Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms have evolved into creator media platforms, telling that story is becoming an increasingly important part of local growth.

National Builds the Brand. Local Makes It Relevant.

National content establishes credibility and consistency, but it's designed to work everywhere.

It can't show your employees, your customers, your neighborhood, or what actually happens inside your location.

That's where franchisees need to think more like creators.

Show the people behind the business. Capture what's happening at your location. Highlight customers and local events. Answer questions. Give people a reason to understand who you are beyond the logo on the building.

The franchisor tells the brand story. The franchisee makes it local.

Don't Build an Organic Strategy and a Paid Strategy

Most franchisees don't have the resources to operate two completely separate content engines—and they shouldn't try to.

Instead, build one local creator strategy and think about organic and paid as two ways to distribute it.

If you're taking photos at your location, post them to your page and use the best ones in paid.

If you're making videos, publish them organically and run them as ads.

If you're partnering with local creators, have their content live organically while also securing the ability to amplify it through paid media.

The question shouldn't be, “Is this organic content or paid content?”

It should be, “Is this good content for our local audience?”

Then distribute it everywhere it makes sense.

Build the Creator Strategy You Can Actually Execute

For multi-location franchisees, that might mean investing in creators who regularly visit locations and produce geographically relevant content. You're building a repeatable local content engine that can feed both organic and paid distribution.

For a single-location franchisee, it can be much simpler.

Take photos. Shoot videos on your phone. Introduce employees. Show your location. Talk about what's happening in the community. Tell customer stories.

Then don't be afraid to put media behind that content.

You don't need an organic team and a paid team. You don't need two different creative strategies.

You need to become a creator for your local brand and use every distribution channel available to you.

That's the opportunity for franchisees. You already have the power of a larger brand behind you.

Now you need to bring that brand to life locally.

One creator strategy. Organic and paid distribution. A stronger local brand.
